Answers to the questions players ask most, and how to reach us.

Contact us

Email hello@gumblox.com. Tell us what happened and, if you can, your friend code (on the Friends screen, under "Your friend code") and which version of the app you have (at the bottom of Settings). We read every message and reply by email.

Common questions

How do I move my progress to a new phone or to the website?

Your player level, candies, badges, streak and stars are saved online as you play. On the device you played on, open Settings (the gear on the home screen) and, under Your save, tap Show my recovery code. On the new phone or in the browser, open Settings, tap Use a recovery code and type the code. Anything already on the new device is added to the restored progress.

My progress is gone after reinstalling

Uninstalling the app removes what was on the phone, but your saved progress is still online. Open Settings, tap Use a recovery code and type your code. If you didn't keep it, any other phone or browser you play on shows it under Show my recovery code. The code is the only way the app can find your saved progress, so keep it somewhere safe.

My daily streak is gone

A streak counts the days in a row you finish the daily puzzle, by your own calendar date. Missing a day ends it unless you have a streak freeze, which covers one missed day by itself. Every 7 days in a row earns a freeze, and the candy shop has them for 150 candies. You can hold 2 at a time. If you missed more days than you had freezes, the streak starts again from 1 with your next daily.

My name changed by itself

When several players report a name, it's swapped for a random one straight away and can't be edited after that. If you think that's a mistake, email hello@gumblox.com with your friend code.

A room code stopped working

A room closes a little while after everyone leaves. Make a new room and share its code.

How do challenges work?

After a classic game, tap Challenge a friend on the result card. Send to my friends puts the challenge on each friend's Friends screen under Your turn, and sends them a notification if they allow them (at most one from you every 12 hours). Share a link sends it anywhere else. Everyone plays the same pieces in the same order, their best try counts, and the Friends screen shows who won.

What other players see

Anyone who plays can see your chosen name, buddy and player level next to your score on the daily leaderboard, on the page of a challenge you played and when they race your recorded run. In a room, the other players see your score and your board as you play. Friends also see your streak, whether you played today's daily and your score, your best classic score this week and your challenge results against them. There is no chat, only six emoji reactions in rooms.

Who can add me as a friend?

Anyone with your friend code or friend link (gumblox.com/add/ and your code) can see your name, buddy and player level, and can add you as a friend straight away, without asking you. Share it only with people you know. Codes are hard to guess: after 20 wrong codes in an hour, a player can't look up or add anyone by code for up to an hour. Other players can also send you a friend request from a private room or a challenge page, and you only become friends if you accept. To undo a friendship, remove the friend on the Friends screen, or block them.

Report or block a player

If a name is rude or hurtful:

  1. Tap the player's name in a room, on the results screen, on a leaderboard or in your friends list.
  2. Tap Report name to send it to us. We review every report.
  3. Tap Block to hide their name and reactions on your device, end your friendship, and stop their friend requests, challenges and notifications.

To unblock someone, open Settings, then Privacy & data, then Blocked players. You can also email the name and where you saw it to hello@gumblox.com.

Kid-safe mode

In Settings, Kid-safe mode hides every other player's name on that device. Each player shows by their buddy's animal instead, for example "Fox". Friend requests are turned off, so friends can only be added with a friend code or link. Once the app has synced with kid-safe mode on, notifications leave names out too, for example "A player added you on Gumblox.", and friend requests don't send one. Notifications for an account go to one device, the last one opened with notifications allowed, and its kid-safe setting decides whether they leave names out. If names still show in notifications, update the app.

Delete your account

Open Settings, then Privacy & data, then Delete my data. Your scores, friends, challenges and recorded runs are removed at once, so other players stop seeing them. Other phones or browsers that used the account start fresh too. The steps without the app and the full list of what is deleted are on the delete account page.

Read the privacy policy and the terms of use. For parents, the kid-safe page sums up what children see and share.
